EPA outdoor wood furnace regulations. How do they affect me?

In 2014, the US Environmental protection agency proposed a new set of rules to regulate emissions from wood burning stoves and wood burning hydronic heaters (outdoor wood boilers). These regulations took affect on January 1, 2015 and were published in the Federal Register on March 3, 2015. Manufacturers were given until April 3 to discontinue manufacturing non-compliant outdoor wood boilers for residential use. Dealers were given until December 31, 2015 to sell out inventory on pre-emission models labeled or intended for residential use. As it stands today, any outdoor wood boiler not meeting or exceeding these emission control standards cannot be connected to a residence. Although some states have pledged not to enforce these regulations, it is still illegal federally and the federal government can still enforce them. Dealers not in compliance will be liable for a fine of up to $25,000 and customers will likely have the unit confiscated. Because of this, no outdoor wood boiler manufacturer or dealer with any respect for their customers will intentionally sell a non-compliant unit, still available for commercial use, to someone who they know will use it for a residence.  Due to these regulations the Heatmaster SS MF-eSeries is available only for commercial use in the United States. The Heatmaster SS G-Series meets and exceeds these standards and can be connected to residences inside the United States.
