Short answer: dry wood is always better. A traditional boiler like the C Series will burn almost anything, green or dry. A gasification boiler like the G Series needs dry, split wood.
Why dry wood
- More heat from every load
- Less creosote and less ash
- Wet wood wastes much of its heat boiling off the water inside
For a gasification boiler
- Moisture between 15% and 25%
- Cut about 4 inches shorter than the firebox
- Split to 6 inches or smaller
Every HeatMaster comes with a wood moisture tester so you can check your wood.
